Random Prints on yksi rakkaimmista projekteistani – ja jälleen yksi, jonka esittely sai näillä sivuilla odottaa turhan kauan (mutta nyt se löytyy) Projektissa teen aina yhdestä kuvasta kerrallaan 90 kuvan edition, ja jätän vedokset ihmisten löydettäviksi kirjekuorissa, saatekirjeen kera. Kirjeessä on ohjeet siihen, miten kuvien löytäjät – halutessaan – saavat kertoa, mihin vedos lopulta päätyi. Kaikki eivät kerro ja osa kertoo enemmänkin, eikä se, minne vedokset päätyvät ole edes kovin tärkeää projektin kokonaisuuden kannalta. Pääasia on, että ne päätyvät jonnekin. Joku ne löytää ja vie kotiinsa tai antaa lahjaksi. En tarkkaan tiedä, mikä tästä projektista tekee niin merkityksellisen minulle. Edellisen toteutuskerran (Saksa, 2014) jälkeen kirjoitin blogiini pohdinnan siitä, mitä projekti minulle merkitsee, ja tunne on tuosta vain kasvanut.

Tänä vuonna projekti ei olisi toteutunut ilman Hahnemühlen tukea: sain heiltä paperit projektiini. Arriving-kuvan päätyminen paperille saakka oli muutenkin kimurantti tie, ja kerron siitä enemmän Plankkon sivuilla syyskuun puolella, kun teos on Plankkon kuukauden teoksena. Paperille se kuitenkin päätyi, kaikki 90 kirjettä ovat rivissä odottamassa, projekti alkakoon.

Random Prints is one of my most favourite projects – and once more one that waited too long for an introduction in my website (but now it’s written). In project I make one picture at time, of an edition of 90 prints, and I’ll leave the prints in envelopes for random people to find, with accompanying letter. The letter explains some background of the project and also instructions on how the finder – if he/she chooses – can tell me, where the print finally ended to. Everyone doesn’t and some of tell more than requested, and knowing where the prints end up to is not even so important for this project in general. The main thing is, that they are being found. Some one finds them, and takes them home and give as present to someone else. I don’t know, what it is, that makes this project so important for me. After the previous Random Prints (Germany 2014) I wrote a blog entry about the meaning of this project to me, and since then the same feeling has just grown.
