The annual Christmas exhibition at Rööperin Taidesalonki in Helsinki with art work from over 30 artists. Part of the exhibition profits will be donated to “New Children’s Hospital” project.

FI || Viisivuotinen urakka Live Herring -työryhmässä elokuva- ja mediakulttuurin läänintaiteilijana Keski-Suomessa päättyi vuoden 2013 lopussa, mutta Live Herringin toiminta, kuten myös oma toimintani Live Herringissä jatkuu läänintaiteilijakauden jälkeenkin. Vuoden alku on kulunut osaltani tuottamistöissä, Live Herring ’14 -näyttelyn taiteellisena johtajana. Live Herring ’14 -näyttelyssä pääosassa ovat koneet ja robotit. Näyttely kokoaa yhteen teoksia, jotka käsittelevät koneiden ja robottien ihmismäisiä piirteitä sekä tapoja. Galleria Ratamossa voi törmätä taidetta tehtaileviin koneisiin, saada uuden vuoden ennustuksen mekaaniselta linnulta sekä tutustua roboteille suunnattuun lemmikkieläinkauppaan. Näyttelyssä on teoksia kolmelta mediataiteilijalta: Jinhee Kimiltä, Matti Niinimäeltä ja Lasse Ursinilta. Päänäyttelyn sisällöstä on vastannut täysin kuraattoriksi kutsuttu Matti Niinimäki. Näyttelyn ohessa järjestetään myös muutama työpaja sekä taiteilijaesittelyitä.

EN || Five-year job in the regional artist work group Live Herring ended at the end of 2013, but Live Herring group continues, and I continue to work (or rather, have a hobby) in Live Herring group. I started the year as an art director of Live Herring ’14 exhibition. Live Herring ’14 exhibits works that show the humanlike features and behaviour of machines and robots. You can see some machines manufacturing art, you can get a new year’s prophecy from a mechanical bird and you can visit a pet store for robots. The exhibitions shows pieces from three media artists: Jinhee Kim, Matti Niinimäki and Lasse Ursin. The main exhibition is curated by Matti Niinimäki. There also some workshops and a few artist introductions and some extra program organized during the exhibition!

Vuonna 2010 jaoin ensimmäisen kerran 90 vedosta ympäri Eurooppaa saatelapun kanssa. Pyysin, että vedoksen löytäneet kertoisivat minulle vaikka nimettömänä, mistä sen löysivät. Projekti oli niin palkitseva, että toteutin sen uudelleen – ja vuoden 2014 huhti- ja toukokuussa neljännen kerran. The Fragrance of Skies -vedoksen numeroitu ja signeerattu editio on 90.
In 2010 I left 90 prints around Europe, for random people to find. I asked the finders to tell me – anonymously – where they found the print. The project was so gratifying that I continued the project – and in 2014 (April and May) I will leave 90 letters with art print for the fourth time. The Fragrance of Skies is a signed and numbered edition of 90 prints.

Lauantaina 17.5.2014 järjestetään Jyväskylässä jälleen Yläkaupungin Yö-tapahtuma, jolloin Galleria Becker ja taidelainaamo pidetään avoinna klo 12 – 22. Viimevuotiseen tapaan Beckerin talon terassilla järjestetään taidelainaamon Kevättuuletus, jossa kaikki kampanjaan sisältyvät ale-teokset ovat tarjolla puoleen hintaan. Tapahtumassa Poissa-installaatiooni kuuluneet vedokset (ed. 1/5) ovat Galleria Beckerissä myynnissä puoleen hintaan, á 35€ toukokuun loppuun saakka. (Muut sarjan vedokset, nrot 2/5 – 5/5 ovat normaalihintaisia, á 70€.) Installaation osana olleet vedokset ovat roikkuneet katosta klipsikiinnityksellä ja vedoksiin on jäänyt pienet “hampaanjäljet” ylämarginaaliin; toisissa vedoksissa jäljet näkyvät selvemmin, osassa ei lainkaan.
Vedosten koko on n. 14X15 cm. Niissä on hyvin niukka marginaali, mutta sen verran marginaalia on, että kehystäminen onnistuu. Ne on signeerattu ja numeroitu (signeeraus kuvan vieressä poikittain).

a) haluatko vedoksen postitse kotiin vai
b) noudatko Galleria Beckeristä Yläkaupungin yön aikaan, lauantaina 17.5.2014 tai sen jälkeen (pidetään varattuna 30.5.2014 saakka).
Postitse lähettämisestä perin pakkaus- ja lähetyskuluja (yksi tai useampi teos) Suomeen 5€, ulkomaille 10€, ja vedoksen voi maksaa vain tilisiirtona tai paypal-maksuna. Jos noudat teoksen Beckeristä, lisäkustannuksia ei tule (teos löytyy lauantaina galleriasta nimelläsi varustettuna) ja maksaa voi galleriaan / taidelainaamoon käteisellä tai pankki- tai luottokortilla.
3. Varmistan vedoksen saatavuuden (puoleen hintaan myytäviä vedoksia on vain yksi kappale kutakin) ja lähetän varmistusviestin sähköpostiisi.
Perjantain 16.5.2014 jälkeen vedokset ovat toukokuun loppuun saakka saatavilla Galleria Beckeristä vain paikan päällä käymällä.

Jyväskylä’s own Yläkaupungin Yö is a city festival which opens the festival season of Central Finland in May. It takes place in the uptown area, near the university, and offers a wide range of events suitable for all ages and sizes. The event starts on Saturday May 17, 2014 and Galleria Becker of the Jyväskylä Artists’ Society is open from 12pm to 10pm. The gallery shop will be open as usual, but as an extra event, there is a 50% off sale event of artworks. At the event All the prints which belonged to my Absent installation (ed. 1/5) are available for half a price, á 35€ at Gallery Becker, Jyväskylä, until the end of May. (Other prints from the series, editions 2/5-5/5 are available for normal price, á 70€.) The prints that have been as part of the installation have been hanging from the ceiling by a fishing line, attached by little clips. In some prints, at the top margin, the small “teeth marks” of the clips are more visible, in some of the prints you can hardly see them.
The size of the prints is about 14×15 cm. They have a really tiny marhin, but there is enough margin to frame the artworks properly. The prints are signed and numbered sideways.

Prints (ed. 1/5) 7, 14, 18, 52, 68, 89, 99, 104, 151, 155 and 170 are not available. They were stolen in 2011 from the exhibition held at the Old Town Hall Gallery in Turku.
2. Please, send me the number(s) of the print(s) you wish to order (paivi.hintsanen@coloria.net) and tell me, if you
a) would like to receive the print by mail
b) would like to collect the print from Jyväskylä / Gallery Becker, during Saturday May 17, 2014 or some other day after that (prints are reserved until May 30, 2014).
In case of sending the print(s) by mail the postage and packing price to one or several prints is 5€ to Finland and 10€ to other countries, which will be added to the invoice. The invoice can be paid via paypal or as a bank transfer to an account (if as a bank transfer, the possible extra fees of exchange costs etc. will be paid by the buyer). If you collect the print from Gallery Becker, there will be no extra cost and you may pay with cash or with bank or credit card to the gallery.
3. I will check the availability of the print(s) in question (there will be only one print each available for half a price), and I’ll send you email to confirm the order.
After Friday, May 16, 2014 these Absent prints will be available at Gallery Becker only at site until the end of May.

I made the first four pictures from this series in the early spring of 2014, to be shown in my exhibition at Galerie Pleiku, Berlin.
